Cinderella (1950)

In my last blog, I used to make a post about the movies I watched and made review about it. Well that was so last blog. In this new one, I want to make another movies-themed labels, but in a different approach. Instead of reviewing the plot, I will make a character appreciation. I will write what I thought about characters in movies. And because it will contain spoilers, it'll be better if I make an appretiation to a character of old movies which plot were already known widely.

So here is Cinderella
Well, who doesn't know her. If we talk about Cinderella in general, well it will take ages. It even take a long post in Wikipedia just to explain about her, involving her as an archetypal character as someone who was neglected and treated unfairly but finally got fortune because of one important revelation. This means that there are a lot of of folklore who has this Cinderella character, spreaded all over the world, started from China, to Middle East. So let's make this post way shorter by specifying which Cinderella I am about to write. And yes, the most popular Cinderella for me is the one told by Disney. And because Disney decided to make a movie from a Cinderella told by Charles Perrault which originally titled Cendrillion, then this Cinderella happened to be French.
By 2016, she is turning 66 years old! She even older than my mother. Today, talks spreaded about how Cinderella was not a good role model, since she party till midnight, careless since she lost her shoes, and marry someone she barely knew. Well whoever said that definitely never watch this Cinderella.
I think the vocal point of this movie was to tell children to always believe in their dreams and keep making efforts to realising it no matter how hard your surrounding stand against you. This girl was a prisoner in her own house! And yet she still managed to sing and made the full out of everything no matter how little she got. No she wasn't perfect. She cried, she whined, even grumbled about how unfair and evil her stepmother was. She didn't make some delusion to justify her stepmother action. She hated her too, I guess.
The first trait I love about Cinderella was her modesty. I mean, at the ball, the first thing that all the girls did was finding the prince and greeting him in the most beautiful way they could think of. They came to get laid by the royal guy. But her! Do you know what she did when she arrived at the ball?
She was admiring the lamps!!!! Oh that pure girl. She didn't want to get laid. She just want to go out of her house once and have the time of her life. She was a teenager after all. She was so appreciative, even the chandeliers amazed her.
The second trait I love about her, is that she was so innocent that made her a terrible liar
The fact that she didn't know that she was dancing all night with the prince proved my first point, that her motivation on coming to the ball was not to get laid by the prince. She just wanted to have fun. So when a fine mannered young man approached her and asked her to dance, she accepted. A prince or not, she danced anyway.
When the time striked twelve and the magic was gone, she didn't ask for more and feel sad. She said thank you! She said thank you to the fairy-god mother for a little chance she got. She was too mature for her own age.
And about her losing the glass slipper.
I guess we have to consider the fact that her toes were fingerless.
Just kidding. Well I think the fact that she just lost her shoe in her first party was a good example too. You know kid, your shoes are the only thing you can lose in a party. Nothing more! Keep your other clothes where they belong.

My 2016 in Books, powered by Goodreads

You guys know goodreads, right? It's an awesome web for booknerds all over the world. Where we all can compete who can read the most and make reviews!
It turned out I realized that I am still a beginner compared to those booknerds who can read hundreds books a year! I barely survive with twenty. Yes, my 2016 reading challenge was twenty books, and I managed to complete it after a longing hardwork reading in city bus. I am so proud with myself.  And now they had this reviews on how my reading life in a year, presented in such a cute infographic kinda like.

So this year, I have read 23 BOOKSSS!!!
with total 10.029 pages. The Great Gatsby was the shortest book and A Clash of Kings was the longest one.

23. The Rest of Us Just Live Here - Patrick Ness

And to show how hard I am to feel satisfied, I didn't stop at 23. Now I'm reading Paulo Coelho's work, Manuscript Found in Accra.

From all the twenty-three book so far, my favourite goes Patrick Ness' The Rest of Us Just Live Here. I love the idea how he decide to give the spotlight to the kids who are not special in magical way. The one who was not chosen by destiny to save the world, but to live their life to the fullness and graduate high school with his bffs. Well that was new!

Predator Fun Park, Batu, East Java

I remember that time when I have nothing left to do in Malang since my thesis finished early and I only had to wait for graduation ceremony, but my friends were still so busy cathing up with their thesis. I was bored! So many places to visit in Malang yet I just sat in my room, running out of books to read (since I devoured all my to-be-read in a short time because reading was the only activities I do beside survival activity like eating), and surfed the internet but had no idea what to surf.
So, me and my bestfriend decided to give a shot to Predator Fun Park, since not so much people talked about it yet, and I always had this urge toward predator. They just amaze me so much.
It's located in (like other exciting place near Malang) Batu. From my place, we had to take public transportation code AL or LG or anything ended up in Landungsari Terminal. Then we took the car in yellow destination to Batu. They have no code, this one. Just the colour. I can't tell you where exactly you should take off, just ask the driver to stop in the intersection toward Predator Fun Park. They knew it. Well, you still have to walk like one kilometers to reach the place.
Or you can always order an Uber.

The first thing they show you was this science fair theme museum filled with facts about predators, mostly crocodile. And, do you know that baby crocodile can change their gender depends of the temperature surround them? Well, that's a fact!
Crocodiles were the species mostly shown in here.
Besides reptiles, they also have some enermous fish, which happens to be predators too. And they let you feed them with small fish using this fshing-equipment alike. Only if you pay five thousand rupiahs. It was a fun experience, and quiet surprising and terrifying in the same time, since the fishes had the tendency to jump for the food  even before the food touch the water. And those fishes, were really big, I tell you again.
And they had this Coldplay-music-video-vibe tiles at the end of the flow
But, to be honest, I think that the place still need more things to show. The concept of showing the beauty of predators is already an intriguing concept, it's just too bad that the zoo looks more like Reptile fun park, instead of what it was actually named. Don't judge me wrong. I did like seeing those crocodiles, but crocodiles have this tendency to stay still when humans are near them. I also didn't mean to recommend an exploitation toward animals. I just mean, they need more animals to show. More predators. More fun fact. More attraction, maybe some kind of a mini theatre showing Discovery Chanel about the life of predators. Or stuff

There are still plenty rooms for improvement.

I found about Ella Eyre from a Youtube comment. She is awesome. I fell in love with Comeback musci video the moment I saw it. And her voice is, something else. Even hearing the intro already lift my mood. And have I told you about her voice? I have? Well, it's awesome

And since I will erase all the song from my playlist and start over next year, I gotta search for a new song to listen to. Good thing I wrote some already.

Being in Spaces

As I graduated college two weeks ago, my college year had officially ended. And one of the consequences that follows is the long distance relationship. I know it all along that this term would come to us sooner, The day I decided to fall in love with him, this kind of relationship   is already on the terms and conditions form. That time, I thought it wouldn't be a problem. I was too in love to realise how challenging the condition is.

As a self-training, before being in real long-distanced relationship, we used to have a 'temporary long distanced relationship'. We'd be apart for only the college break, and it was like two months at max. And we were doing fine. We still interact with each other every single day, and didn't have any anxiety at all. Well of course we missed each other like crazy that time, but it was manageable. We could survive.

Because we knew it back then at what time we will meet each other. I'd be counting the days. It comforted my mind. It was healthy for me. But this time, it's different. I forgot that without college, we are just two kids who wouldn't know each other because of 800 kms spaces in between.

End The Hiatus

When was the last time I blogged? I know right, like someone even read this blog. But blogging was part of my healthy coping mechanism when it comes to stress. Basically sharing my thoughts makes me feels good, but it makes me even better if I know that nobody read it. That's why I rarely share the link of this blog. And because I never feel confident about my writing.
Confidence have always been my issue.
No matter how I encourage people to feel confident. It is hard man.

So now, to re-practice my writting skill, since after graduating I want to pursue my hobby even more, I will actively blog AGAIN, yay, just like the old days.

See you in a regular basis
